Hyundai 45 Concept: its 'lounge' interior, explained

The Hyundai 45 Concept is an all-electric prototype with which the South Korean brand showcased its vision for the future during the 2019 Frankfurt Salon. It is expected to derive from it a production model similarly powered by batteries scheduled to be presented by 2021.




The Hyundai 45 Concept is a prototype that the Korean brand presented at the 2019 Frankfurt Salon. Its name is a tribute to the classic Hyundai Pony Coupé Concept, which came to light 45 years ago.

This 'concept' will derive the one that will be the first all-electric model of the manufacturer. It will be an SUV that by size will rival others such as the Tesla Model Y or the Ford Mustang Mach-E, which has a length of 4.75 and 4.71 meters, respectively.

Highlights include the configuration of the front and rear headlights, composed of a cluster of cubes of LED lights that give this concept a clearly differentiated image.

The Hyundai 45 Concept's doors integrate a beam of LED lights at the lower end that indicates battery status, helping the driver to be aware of the remaining range before even getting behind the wheel.


HYUNDAI 45 CONCEPT: INTERIOR


The Hyundai 45 Concept takes advantage of its electric vehicle status to reinterpret the distribution of the space inside the cabin, which acquires an environment more typical of living space.

The firm explains that it has been inspired by the design of the furniture, hence the use of materials such as wood, fabric, and leather to create a spacious and serene atmosphere.



The seats are more typical of a lounge than a conventional car. Driver and co-pilot can turn their own to share space with rear train occupants. The seats are oriented towards the door when you get in and out of the car. They also have a storage compartment.

The dashboard is dominated by a large digital touch console that extends horizontally from the driver's window to the beginning of the co-pilot's seat.

The occupants of the front seats can also interact with the car infotainment system from a projection beam interface, which assumes parts of the functions of the same display.

The Hyundai 45 Concept integrates a Camera Monitoring System. It ensures that the vehicle has space for applications dedicated to autonomous driving.

Hyundai has not provided the engine specifications of the Hyundai 45 Concept, beyond that it is a battery-powered electrical assembly.

The firm has confirmed that both these and the engines are located in such a way that they detract from the passenger compartment as little space as possible.
