The DS 9 2021 is a 'premium' saloon equipped with a plug-in hybrid engine that develops a power of 225 horsepower and a maximum electric range of 50 kilometers. Later you will arrive two more capable versions, the most powerful with 360 horses.
The DS 9 is the latest addition to PSA's range of luxury vehicles, which is characterized by the pursuit of elegance with a dye design line from the art world. It's based on the Peugeot 508. Its clearest rival is the Lexus ES, although its alternatives also include the Audi A6, the Ford Mondeo, and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class.
DS 9 2021: OUTDOOR
The silhouette of the DS 9 2021 inevitably recalls the Peugeot 508, although there are some substantial differentials noticeable in the exterior design. It measures 4.93 meters in length by 1.85 meters wide, with a long battle - 2.90 meters - which translates into more space for passengers occupying the rear seats.
In the front train, that is concrete in a grid of higher dimensions that extends to encompass the entire license plate, which in the Peugeot was on the sidelines. The optical group is continuous except for the vertical led beam, which in the DS changes angle. The lower air intake remains essentially unchanged.
Behind, the DS 9 adopts the same style we've seen in models like the DS 7 Crossback. Thin and sharp headlights with a rhomboid motif that gives it the premium touch that characterizes the brand, although in this case, the result may well remember a Mercedes-Benz. Diffuser and exhausts are finished in chromed details, thus differentiating from the line seen in the Peugeot 508 to get closer to the elitist world.
A sensor on the vehicle's windshield scans the surface of the asphalt for imperfections. The reading it makes serves to anticipate changes in the hardness of the suspension so that the conditions of the firm affect as little as possible the experience of those traveling inside the vehicle.
DS 9 2021: INTERIOR
The interior of DS 9 2021 corresponds to a premise: to offer a first-class trip to all occupants of the vehicle. The cabin is covered in Napa leather and is continuously compared to the DS 7 Crossback, which for practical purposes translates into two large digital screens, an ergonomic change selector and the characteristic watch that characterizes the French firm.
The trunk of this saloon has a capacity of 510 liters.
DS 9 2021: EQUIPMENT
The DS 9 2021 features Level 2 autonomous driving technology, which means it has adaptive cruise control. The car automatically accelerates and brakes depending on traffic. It has a sensor that recognizes continuous and discontinuous lines. In addition, it equips a sensor capable of detecting pedestrians and cyclists 100 meters away, even in night conditions. Displays them on the instrument panel above to alert the driver. The car also has fatigue control.
DS Park Pilot technology detects a free parking space when you pass by, warning the driver of your presence. By holding down the 'Park' button, acceleration, braking, and steering are automatically actuated to enter or exit the parking lot.
DS Safety systems encompass DS Night Vision. An infrared camera on the front line detects pedestrians, cyclists, and animals on the road, up to 100 meters. The driver displays them on the internal digital display so that they can react in advance. Also, the DS Driver Attention Monitoring, which detects driver fatigue, and DS Active Led Vision, which adapts to the road for a better result.
DS 9 2021: MECHANICAL
The DS 9 E-Tense is a plug-in hybrid. It has a PureTech turbo engine of gasoline and an electric engine, which together deliver 225 horses with an electric range ranging from 40 to 50 kilometers in the WLTP cycle. Equip an 11.9-kilowatt-hour battery for this purpose.
The electric motor as such can deliver a maximum of 110 horsepower. It is used to start from standing, squeeze acceleration or drive in 100% electric mode at speeds of up to 135 kilometers/hour. By default, the car will always start in electricity for greater efficiency. The brand ensures that the transition is imperceptible to passengers.
Two other motorizations for the DS 9 will be exited later. Two will be electrified: 250 horses and more autonomy, and 360 horses with four-wheel drive.
The E-Tense Sport driving mode squeezes the maximum performance of both thrusters, combining them to extract their 225 horsepower and use them simultaneously. That is complemented by a specific calibration for the throttle pedal, a gear reset, steering, and active suspension.
The car has a program called 'E-Save' that allows you to reserve in advance the energy necessary to travel a certain distance in electric mode. So, if we want to make an intercity crossing and make sure we can drive around the city in 100% electric mode, the car disconnects the electric motor until we need it. In electric mode, the car reaches a top speed of 135 kilometers/hour.
DS 9 2021: PRICES
